Hey,
Think I've cracked it. I went to settings, general, reset and then chose reset network settings. The phone re-booted and all seems fine any app I choose is updating fine now.
Give it a go

HELP!!! Mine's doing the same thing. I cannot connect to wifi, but can connect to 3G and Edge networks. I've done a restore twice, and have reset everything possible. Has anyone else found answers?

Ok, looks like I'm next. Just bought the iPhone this afternoon and figured I would update the software. It's almost done.

Thanks for the info..

Phone/ Mail/ Safari/ iPod all seem to be working fine after the update.

But my address book still hasn't synced with the phone.

I'll search the site some more.
