Converting DVD to ipod format

I have just bought the 160gb ipod and a new user to ipods I have successfully imported my music to my ipod but I received dvd's for christmas and would appreciate some help importing them to my ipod can anyone help me please, is there any freeware available?

Yes, even if you own the DVDs. While the Fair Use Clause of the DMCA allows you to make backups of digital media that you own, there's another clause that makes breaking the CSS encryption of a DVD illegal. So while you can make a backup of the movie, you can't break the encryption to get to it. It's sort of a catch 22. Hopefully, the new administration will update the DMCA to resemble real world usage rather than what the movie studios want.
