I know these been up before, but I really do want to change my text message signal to something else, dont understand why apple didn't make that possible from the beginning, but same goes with the new MacBooks without Fire wire

anyway, anyone know a why of dealing with getting own text message sounds to the iPhone 3G =)

feel free to post some websites =)

Cheers and thanks

Only way to change it will be to jailbreak your iPhone and use one of the customization options.

There are a couple of programs available that allow you to change system sounds. I haven't poked around much since I jailbroke my iPhone, but I'm sure there is a program that allows you to change system sounds.

You want to look in Cydia for sound themes, and add Winterboard. Winterboard will allow you to change the overall theme or just sounds (applicable to the theme) if you wish. Once you enable the sound themes, (Family Guy Ringtones, SMS sounds, etc) you can go to Settings and they will be listed.

I found a sweet Metal Gear sound theme that was nicely put together so my SMS texts, email notifications and keyboard clicks are from MGS:2.

Interestingly, I looked for such Apps when I had my iPhone Jailbroken. There are some Apps out there but I didn't find any that would allow you to change the incoming text sound to anything other than Apples stock sounds. I was surprised by and a bit disappointed by this.
