iPhone message security

When I receive a text message on my iPhone it appears automatically on my screen. I don't want this to happen as anyone can read the message if it is left on my desk. Is there anyway I can disable this function. When I get an email it just vibrates and doesn't display the message which is what I want it to do with my text messages as well.

Go into settings, then onto passcode lock put your combination in then un check sms preview
