There is a possibility that you will brick your phone, though from what I've been hearing, there are methods you can use that will recover a bricked phone.

oh~ i see. So do you have any links or any idea how to unbrick a phone?

basically i bought the phone overseas and i want to update it in my home country. does that mean it will 'brick' the phone?
