I was wondering, is it possible to get themes for an iPod touch as well as the iPhone? Or at least a different background than black nothingness?

It is possible if you jailbreak your iPhone/iPod Touch. But I'm sorry we aren't really allowed to give information about jailbreaking, unlocking, and other hacking methods here. But just a quick notice, if you jailbreak your device, then you can't update its firmware unless you send it back to jail, update, and then rejailbreak it. And it's dangerous.
