Updating right now. Been reading that the Contacts lag has been fixed and overall stability and speed improved, and more notably the backup doesn't take forever. However, there are still reports of keyboard lag in the SMS app, though I'll report back once the update is complete.

Edit: It just finished updating. Backup is certainly faster, taking only a few seconds rather than minutes. I don't seem to be experiencing the SMS lag, but it wasn't always consistently there before either, so I'll have to use it for a little longer before I can definitively state that this issue has been fixed. The Contacts list has certainly been fixed, no more lag!! It also seems snappier overall, apps open quicker, though it could very well be a placebo effect.

One final note, this doesn't require a full restore like previous updates where you had to activate and restore from a backup, all of my stuff was still on the phone when it rebooted, which was great as I didn't have to spend a lot of time putting all of my contacts, music, and other data back on after updating.

Thanks to eliehass and ibookmobile007 for telling us about the 2.0.1 update!

I just docked my iPod Touch and a window in iTunes popped up saying the 2.0.1 update was available, do you wish to download and install.

It seems that you dock your iPhone or iPod Touch and it will automatically detect the update. If it doesn't, just go to your iPod or iPhone and click the update button.

I agree with everything there, plus, it seems apps are not crashing all the time anymore.

Been reading of people having issues with the update but nearly all of them on a Windows machine.

Worked fine for me.
