I see hundreds of Apps in the App Store - why isn't there a new keyboard in there? I had a useless old Qtek 9000, the PC-based nightmare which ran on WM5 - but the one thing you could do on it was type. 60 words a minute if necessary. I reckon nobody in the world can get more than 15 words a minute off the iPhone keyboard. So please can somebody design an App that works as a keyboard - and can give me a fast way on inputting on the iPhone 3G - even one that simply allows the existing keyboard to tilt on a horizontal and get larger? I know people will say 'practice typing and you'll get better', and I have, but I haven't. It is such a howler for the iPhone to come so perfect and yet with this one massive hitch. Is there a ban on Apps which replace the keyboard?

The more I use it, the more I like it. I'm not doing 60wpm, but for texting and e-mail, it seems fine.

Same here. I've gotten really good with the keyboard now, and hitting space to let the iPhone correct my spelling has really worked out great now that I am used to it. I was slightly faster on my Sidekick 3 (which the iPhone 3G replaced) but not by much now that I have gotten used to it.

I don't think it would be possible for an app to replace the keyboard entirely, as each program uses different keyboard settings. I DO think it would be really, REALLY nice if Apple would allow for external Bluetooth keyboards to work; if they fixed that and Flash, this thing would be darn near a laptop.

'cause when it rains, you know it pours.

When I had a blackberry I could type as fast as I do with here, if not faster, I've had the iPhone since the day it came out and i cant type any faster then i could then. I hate the keyboard and my iPhone (3rd replacement) is dropping calls left and right and the alarm doesnt work, etc etc. I'm getting sick of dealing with it.

well in safari browser you can type in horizontal. I actally think it's normal verticle view is a little easier to hold, odd I know. But the more I've typed the easier it's gotten.

But you know they will never do that because it may decrease their laptop sales, and they make more money from selling MacBooks than iPhones.

Btw,I just (painfully) typed this on my iPhone .
