Ipod format

I just bought a macbook this week. And I have a 30GB Ipod classic thats formatted for windows. How can I format my iPod for Mac?

Connect it up, iTunes should pick it up and ask you some bits etc, can't remember exactly what, sorry.

Thanks for the links. Is there a way for me to back up my ipod music even though I dont have it on iTunes anymore?
