Hi. I'm new to these boards and I have a question. I'm selling my 1st gen iPhone to my brother and he wanted to unlock it. I already installed the 2.0 software on it and noticed that it has the new and improved security wipe feature that it says takes an hour or so to completely erase all data from the phone. I was wondering, does this also restore the phone to its factory software settings i.e. iPhone v. 1.0 (or whatever number the factory settings were), thus making it unlockable? Thank you for your help!

A restore doesn't bring it back to absolute factory settings with the 1.0 firmware, it simply wipes all of the personal information off of it and retains the firmware version. Think of how it was when you first took it out of the box, but with the current firmware installed.
