I have a Mac at home which my iPod is of course sync'd and formatted too. Here at work I have a computer running XP. Any chance of using the remote app on my Mac iPod with the XP computer? So far no luck for me.

The Touch and Phone use flash memory which is fat32 formatted, therefore they will work on either a PC or Mac with no formatting required.

Have you tried going to Settings then selecting "Add Library"?

And if that doesn't work, try DL the Remote app on the XP computer.

You mean controlling the XP computer with the remote app on the iPod?

Don't think that's going to work, it's tied in to the Apple remote thing I think.

I'm pretty sure it should work with what I explained, I mean I don't see how Apple would shut out their Windows formatted iPod/iPhone users like that.

Of course, maybe, once you add a library (being it on a Mac computer, because before you can use it you have to type in a passcode for that one computer, it will probably only work on a Mac. Thats my only realistic explanation for why it wouldnt work)

Sorry, I can't see how it's going to work with a non-Apple computer.

I mean, you should be able to download and install just the same using a Windows machine, but it's working as an Apple remote right? An Apple remote isn't going to work with a non-Apple computer, it doesn't have the hardware (so far as I know).

The apple remote is used with IR. On MacBooks, the dot on the right front panel is the IR Receiver. The Remote App uses Wi-Fi (for the Touch) to access iTunes on your computer. It's pretty cool how it does that Unless im sitting on my bed, my Apple remote is always out of range I've always had to walk near my MB to change the track, which kinda beats the purpose of a remote lol

There's also a link at the bottom if you can't get it to work.

I think cuhnool is right though, only one remote per machine, just like the normal apple remote.

Okay heres the new scoop. Yes you can use your Mac fomatted iPod using the "remtote application" to control the iTunes to a XP based computer. You can connect the remote application to multiple itunes librarys; and changing between them is as easy as going to settings>and clicking on the one you want to contro.

Protip> Apparently the network I was yesterday was not working which is why I could not get it to work.

I need help on this guys...

I just installed the app and I don't see the "devices" on iTunes... I mean, I have my iPod Touch on one hand, unconnected from the pc. I click on "add libraries", it shows the passcode, but when I look in iTunes, I don't see my iPod listed there, should it be ?
QUOTE Thanks
