Are you talking about the Remote app released by Apple in the App Store?

Did you enable firewall permissions?

Are you connected to the wireless network on the iPhone or are you trying to use EDGE?

yeah I'm talking about the app released by apple. My iPhone was connected to the same wireless network as my MacBook. I'm going to have to check about the firewall

'iTunes Music Sharing' should be enabled under OS X firewall.

Also make sure the "Look for iPhone & iPod touch Remotes" is enabled under the Advanced tab in Preferences.

I had this problem too here are the instructions:
1. Enable Sharing on iTunes
2. Go to Firewall (In Security on System Prefs)
3. There are 3 radio buttons, select the 3rd one
4. Below the box, click the + icon, a window will appear. Select iTunes, it will default to Allow Incoming Connections.

then try it again.

Worked for me, and I love this App!!

EDIT:didn't see Eric's post, Ooops, well now you have it twice!

i have an iphone 4s and it used to work. now it stopped working. I try to clear all devices in itunes (forget devices) and start again. it recognises the iphone and asks for 4 digit code. when I key in the code it clears the entry and asks for code again.

my iphone 3 still works
