Are there any that a store like best Buy sells that are compatible with a Mac/Macbook? I need to pick up a signal in another room, and the only way would be to run a long USB cord attached to a wireless adapter...but it seems like none of the bigger brands sell Mac-compatible versions. If anyone knows of a compatible adapter, please post about it!
Thanks! |

Quick question. What happened to the built in wireless adapter in your Macbook?

Which Macbook do you have? If you have a Core2Duo model, then you'd be better off upgrading your router to an 802.11n model, which would triple the range of your current router.
Now if you have one of the CoreDuo models, then I wouldn't suggest you getting a USB adapter as you really won't see much of a benefit (the Macbook's wireless card is pretty good). In this case, you should look into getting a range booster for your router. ![]() June 2007 July 2009 |

truoc, which one did you buy online? And Kash, appreciate the tips, but the whole point here is that I'm on a college campus...not using my own router/network. I'm trying to pick up a signal through cinder block walls in on-campus housing. The built-in is fine for web browsing and some mild downloads, but I know that if I can get the signal from the room next to mine I'd have a much better signal.

Ahh, looks like I skipped over the part about a campus base station. Sorry about that
![]() I did some searching around and found models by Belkin (linked above) and Hawking. I saw that D-Link released something, but it was a while ago and don't think it's made anymore. ![]() June 2007 July 2009 |
