Hey guys,
Let me first say that I really do appreciate your help. and that although ive had my MBP for just under a year, I am blown away by my shiny new iMac

However, about a day after connecting the iMac to the router, and having normal internet service, I am finding myself waiting minutes to load sites like Google and Mac-forums. This cant be right.

It wouldnt be so much of a weird problem but as soon as I get to Google, and make a search, the page loads within less than a second?

Also, World of Warcraft experiences no lag or slowdown. It is a really weird problem, I have both of the machines networked so I can explore them remotely but surely that cant be the problem.

Id love to hear some possible (even low possibility) solutions, im thinking start with wiping both machines and the router of all knowledge of eachother?

Then start from scratch?

Cheers,
Lewwy.

Wiping the machines wouldn't do much of anything except waste your time.
The issue is only with certain sites, not your connection. That means that there is something in those sites that is taking longer to load in your browser.

Try a different browser first.

Apparently, you were right. Firefox is working about 50 times faster.
I dont understand why this is? I even reset Safari back to its original settings, deleting Cache, Bookmarks etc.. No change..

I love using Safari any help on getting it back would be soo much appreciated !

When I opened up my laptop it obviously connected to the network, but I got this error message:

----------------
IP Configuration

192.168.0.2 is in use by 00:xx:d3:19:eb:xx, DHCP Server 192.168.0.1.
----------------

Im so los with networking, have managed to do a screen sharing/remote control on both machines and scare people by blasting music when they dont expect it

Just so I and others are sure, the iMac is the one going slow? How about the Macbook Pro? Also is the iMac Hardwired to the router or are you using WiFi (Airport)?

All those sites are quite fast here in Safari.

Both iMac and Macbook Pro are slow in Safari at the moment, and it was fine before I tried hooking them both up.

Doesnt make sense that one browser can behave so differently from another.

The iMac is currently wireless, however I have tried it with the Ethernet hardwired in, but Safari was still extremely slow.

Cheers for the help fella's, Its much appreciated.

On the contrary, it makes perfect sense.
That is what makes them different... different rendering engines, different ways of interpreting the same data, different plugin capabilities...etc.

Like DB said, there are differences between different browsers BUT not minutes like you are experiencing. Seconds yes. I have 5 Macs here all with 10.5.1 and Safari 3.0.4 and it's quite fast. Mac Forums loads in 2 seconds for example. There are some sites that take a bit longer and that might be faster with say Camino instead of Safari. If yours is taking Minutes or even 1 minute to load Mac Forums, something is wrong.

Since going to Firefox DRAMATICALLY speeds things up, there has to be an issue somewhere. Been checking around and found nothing so far but will keep checking.

I have had had my Macbook for about 3 weeks, and my Safari has been running slow. Sites like Yahoo! and mac-forums also are taking their time to load. I did play with some of the settings and security settings, to see if anything would speed up the download and access to the websites, but nothing really changed. I did download and have been using Firefox, and it is a bit faster. I'm puzzled.

Macbook - White, 2.2 Ghz Intel Duo Core, 120 Gb, 1.5 gb RAM.
