Everytime I go to capture with wireshark I immediately lose my connection. Can someone please explain this and what might be going wrong.

might be of some help, it seems to be a problem with either OSX and/or WireShark. then again, I distinctly remember back when it was called Ethereal, that it did the same on Windows XP
