Hi All,

I was given an eMac at the weekend and have got it all setup and running except for one thing.

I have an apache web server running on a windows xp machine and can only connect to it from the mac by using the ip address of the xp machine. I need to be able to connect using the pc's name.

If anybody can point me in the right direction on this I would be most grateful.

Many Thanks

I'm not sure about the apache server thing, but while connecting using normal networking, I can see the name in the "Network" tab in the finder...

Thanks for the reply. The machines are all networked ok and I can transfer files between them. It is just the web server side of things that I cannot work out.

It is not the end of the world so long as the ip address's never change.

Many Thanks

I am now sorted. I needed to edit the etc/hosts file.

Many Thanks
