How do i remove the VPN icon on my top tool bar?

pardon me, i'm a newbie to the macworld.
I played around with VPN and now i have this silly icon on the top right of my screen, next to the wireless icon.

If you open Internet Connect and click on the VPN icon, there is a check box at the bottom you can uncheck.

Alternatively, you can hold down the command key and drag it off with your mouse.

It is ridiculous how many people think the word ridiculous is spelled with an 'e'.
