MacBook Pro - AirPort not working very well?

Hi, the problem i've encountered after using my mac for about 5 months is that my airport won't get detected in OSX OR Windows XP SP2 (BootCamp).

Now the question is whether it's a problem with the macbook or a recent firmware patch or some software anomally?
