trouble with motorola surfboard wireless modem

i have a SBG900 surfboard wireless modem.

for some odd reason i will randomly disconnect from the modem. i have a very strong connection but pages load slowly or not at all. has anyone else had a problem with this modem? are there any settings i can change/check to stay better connected?
