We have a farm that has 2 houses on it. They are only separated by a laneway, but our internet goes into one of the houses and I would like to share it with the other house. We have a wireless network in the house that the internet goes into provided by a Dlink Dir 655. We have a Dlink DWA 552 on the computer in the other house and although it can find the signal, it can barely just find the signal most of the time the signal drops. I am looking for any suggestions to get internet to the other house. I have tried moving the router and also moving the other computer with the wireless adapter but I can't seem to get it right. It doesn't help that our house has tin walls and the other house has stone walls. Can anybody out there help me to figure this out. I will go wired if I have to, but would prefer to wireless. I have some computer knowledge, but I would not consider myself a network expert by any means. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

You can try wireless, but you will have much better luck if you just run wire across then put a wifi router in each house.

Great answer...exactly what I was going to suggest!

This is also assuming that something "against the rules" is not going on here....regarding the internet service providers rules & policies. Maybe since it's a farm...it's still ok.

Sometimes I think of things in extremes. What if this farm had 10 homes on it...with 10 separate families. Then that would be 10 families all operating off of 1 account. Maybe it's a gray-area.

Can you imagine having to split the bandwidth 10 ways (assuming they were on line simultaneously).

Of course, I know everything . . . I just can't remember it all at once.

Yeah...that might be sort of slow. Actually I think I can imagine what that would be like...it's called "dial-up" (hello 1990's)!

You could try something like a wifi extender. They are claiming 250m ~820' of range in line of site.
WiFi Extenders - WiFi Repeaters, WiFi to Ethernet, Extending WiFi Range
Note these are usually ment for internet access only so read the descriptions carefully.
I am with the others here though - your best bet is to run a cable across.
