I thought, why sit here and weed through hundreds of cookies looking for the ones I need to keep when I can just delete them all and start fresh by logging back into all the password-protected online accounts and registrations at which time a new cookie will be created. But that is not how it's turned out.

Now if I log in, [I]even[I] when I click the "remember me" or "keep me logged in" box, if I log out of my computer or if Safari quits on me I have to log back in. Am I wrong about the cookie? Could something else be wrong with the computer?

Using 10.4.11 with Safari 4.1.3 on an old un-upgradable Mac mini.

For I brief moment I thought you had become my savior. Unhappily, no, it is disabled, but thanks for trying.

I just discovered something in my Console Log—line after line of the following:

2012-03-05 22:28:34.275 Safari[12743] Could not open cookie file "/Users/xxxx/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist" for reading.

So I went to my cookie file, tried to open the TextWrangler file, had to give my log in password, and found that it had recorded nothing since 2/28/ which was the day I deleted all the cookies. So what would be preventing the cookie file from opening?

Got it thanks to someone on Apple Support Forums. He had me restart in Safe Mode and remove the offending cookie.plist file to the desktop. When I restarted a new working cookie.plist file was created and all is now right with the world.
QUOTE Thanks
