Password conundrum WiFi, G4

I can get on my home WIFI with everything except my G4 (10.5.8).
I can get on if I setup a guest account on router without a password or I can use ethernet cable.
When I try to get on the main account with the Airportthe password fails.
My windows laptops and Iphone all get on with the main password

router: NETGEAR WNR2000 v3
mac: Power PC G4
wireless card firmware 9.52

What type of encryption do you have setup on the Netgear Router? Your older G4 can probably only do WEP which is why when you set it up without a password, it can get on. WEP is not very secure but it's better than nothing. Either that, or continue to use ethernet for the G4.
