Modem/ Switch problems.

I have a Motorola SB5101 SURFboard cable Moden that came with the TXU service I paid for. I bought a Dynex 5port Gigabit Switch so I could plug my iMac and xbox into it.
It's not working. I don't know where to begin. The xbox is getting the internet, but not the computer. Help
