So I recently upgraded my ADSL modem due to connectivity problems and everything is fine on all of my machines running windows and iOS on the network BUT...

On my Macbook, certain sites won't load (facebook, twitter, etc...) It seems to be certain sites where a password is required (but not all)

I've cleared DNS cache, browser cache and that let's me log into the sites , but after that they just hang. Happens across all browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox). I've tried tons of settings on the router and modem, but the issue remains. I'd think it has to be some conflict with the network and machine, because there's no problem on other networks, but also no problem for any other machine on this network. I'm at a loss as to what to check next...

Can you post your "hosts" file here for us to take a look at?

Use your Finder and navigate to:

MacIntosh HD/etc/hosts

The hosts file is in plain text. Copy it and paste it in your reply. Let's see what it says.

In case anyone has any experience with this, it appears to be a problem relegated to the router. Connecting directly to the modem makes everything work perfectly.
