Can Lion mount external drives when the drives are powered up?

I have 3 external drives tied to a Time Capsule via a USB hub. They're off most of the time, so they are not set as login items. I mount them via aliases on the Desktop.

I want Lion to automount the drives when they power up, and put their icons on the desktop. Can it do that?

No.

Nothing can.

Something would need to be constantly querying the Time Capsule for connected storage, then run a mount script when detected.

Not gonna happen. Sorry.
