eMac: How do I connect

I bought an EMac from my friend today and I was wondering how to connect to the internet. I know this is probably easy but this is my first Mac so Im a little lost.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Depends on the model. By dialup or broadband, and if it has an Airport card fitted, wirelessly also. First you need a modem/router for whichever way you propose to go.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

I have an Ethernet cable connected but I still dont know how to get hooked up to the internet

connect your ethernet cable to either your router of your modem. the network setting should set dhcp.

Got an account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP)? If so is it a DSL or dial up account? That is the first step and if they are Mac friendly they will have a guide on how to do this.
