Hi all,

Just recently I purchases an Airport express and I've been having some trouble setting it up. The instructions say to open Airport Utility after installing it from the disk and once installed I should see the Airport Express along with the other wireless devices. Here is the screen shot:

Other times it has spontaneously appeared in along with the other wireless devices, but asking for a password. I tried the generic password "public" and that did not work.

It also occurred to me that there is a reset button, maybe I'm not doing it right, but it also has not worked.

Please let me know if you have any advice and/or articles on this.

Thanks

Are you sure you're not looking at someone else's Airport Extreme?

Have you read/followed instructions in the the  kb article on Simple Steps to set up Airport Extreme??

And yes to add to Brian, is that the name you gave your AE ??

There is a big difference in Airport Express and Airport Extreme routers. Decide which you have and read the instructions. Also Airport Preferences are different than the Airport Utility in applications/utilities. I eventually had to call support to get it resolved.

Go to the Airport menu in the tsp bar (upper right corner of your screen) and click it. Your express will have a name like "APPLEWIRELESS" or "AIRPORTDEVICE". It will be obvious because it will look strange. Click it from the drop down menu. Your computer will connect to said device. Now open the utility app and configure it.
