Hello,

I've searched around quite a bit for answers to this problem and I've found other similar issues but not responses have fixed my issue yet.

Two nights ago I was on my macbook on my wireless network just fine. Yesterday morning I woke up and my macbook could not see the network. The network appears to be fine - I am currently on a Dell connected to the same network, and my Xbox 360 can access the internet via the wireless network just fine as well. My Macbook also can access the internet if it is connected to the router with an ethernet cable.

My Macbook is from 2008 and is running Leopard 10.5.8. I have installed the most recent software update. My wireless card is AirPort Extreme with Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.91.21) firmware. When I try to search for networks it just says Connection Timed Out. My router is a Netgear WPN824v2 and the network is WEP encrypted. I use Comcast internet. Would any other information be helpful? I have tried some basic fixes that I found but to no avail. What could be wrong?

I would change the WEP to WPA2 for more secure connection and the fact that most
modern equipment either plays well with no encryption or WPA2 also take the channel
selection off of auto and manually select a channel reboot router after changing the above.

I did the first part but no success. How do I change the channel? I went into the router control website but couldn't find that as an option. If the wireless is working on my other computers and it still doesnt work on my macbook sitting right next to the router, would that make a difference anyway? Any other ideas?

Does your network show up when you click on the wireless icon in the menu bar and does it show all your neighbors close to you ?

It does not show up on my Macbook, but it does show up on this Dell. The two computers are sitting right next to each other. That's the problem. THe network had been showing up a few days ago, and then without any apparent change it disappeared. It doesn't show any neighbors but I believe in the past only the wireless network showed up anyway. Usually it would just show the one network, now it cannot find any networks in the area.

I should have mentioned - it can connect to other networks fine when im not home so I think the card is ok. Any other things I can try before I bring it in?

As cheap as it is with under the hood improvements I would anyway. But if your MacBook will connect everywhere else there has to be a setting issue on
your router.

I recently moved to China, and now my Airport cannot see any networks here. IF I turn airport on >>> Join Network >>> Show Networks it always times out without seeing ANY networks no matter where I am, even if other people can see a whole list of networks. Strangely, the other day, one weird network did pop up for a few minutes but it then went away. This whole problem is very confusing to me. Are there any other steps I can take to try to fix it before I take it to an Apple store - doing so here in China would not be so easy for me. I would be comfortable doing more sophisticated problem solving or opening the laptop if you have any good suggestions. Please help me!

I'm currently experiencing the same kind of issue. I can't see an unprotected wifi network while every other computer (PC) sees it and connects to it. My iPhone sees it, but it can connect for some reason.
I used to see this network and all of a sudden it stopped seeing it. I restarted all the hardware. I'm using OSX 10.7.4.
Don't know what else to do. Help please!!!!!

Well I have no idea what my problem was, but in the end they couldn't fix it and I had to buy a new airport card. After that it worked fine.

Well as suggested by osxx the router was kaput.

Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
