Trying to use a Netgear WNCE2001 with my MacOS X 10.6.6 in internet sharing mode. I don't have a actual router, but I understand that with an Airport Extreme card in internet sharing mode, it works as wireless router?
Netgear customer service dude told me their product doesn't support ad hoc peer to peer sharing, but i thought the "internet sharing" function was like a router.
When i try to set up the WNCE2001 sees my network at 100% accepts the password, then after about 2 min. of searching it says to move it closer, its sitting right next to the computer though. so did i just blow $50? Or can you help make this thing work?

Return it. If the netgear customer service said it doesn't work as ad hoc then it won't work for what you want to do. Yes it is acting as a router - but the function is known as ad hoc or peer to peer internet sharing. You were told specifically that the device won't do it - so it is a futile effort.
QUOTE Thanks
