Hi, I have a problem where I want to connect my MBP to my xbox 360 in order to access xbox live. I am currently connected to the internet on my MBP via ethernet in my student halls. I have an xbox wireless adapter and I want to connect this adapter to my MBP using internet sharing. I have created the shared network and my xbox can see that this network exists. When I connect to the network on the xbox it does so without trouble but when I try to connect to xbox live through this connection (i.e. connect to the internet) it cannot do it. The xbox displays an error message about not being able to obtain an IP address from router or modem.

Anyone done this successfully before? Help would be appreciated.

Does your school support Xbox Live? Maybe they have it blocked.

Hey. 1. I am not at school. I'm in university student halls and 2. Xbox Live is allowed and I have been currently connecting before via the ethernet cable straight into the xbox. However, I would like to be able to use my laptop for internet and the xbox and the same time so I would like to know if there is a way for the problem I described above. Thanks.

it may be throttled so that you are only allowed to have one connection at the same time.

anyway, you turn on internet sharing on macbook, plug ethernet into macbook, set to share from ethernet, share to airport, then connect the xbox to the wifi signal.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have heard this before. I have tried this. I can connect to the shared connection via my iPhone and internet runs smoothly but the problem must be with xbox not liking something about the connection. The xbox can see the connection and connect but it cannot connect to the internet (unlike the iPhone which can). Any other ideas? Thanks.

Anyone? I'm sure this has been done. I know it is unlike the usual Wireless network >> Mac >> ethernet cable >> xbox. But I'm pretty sure it is possible.
