can anyone help my router is playing up, so I need to buy another one, currently using a Netgear dg834g, it is dropping its connection and can take a long time to connect initially, it is about 5 years old and I would like some advice as to what to buy next, thanks.

Probably nothing wrong with your router at all. Solid state electronics don't tend to just "go bad".

You probably have a neighbor who's router is conflicting with yours, or your router is poorly placed. Have a look at this before you go buying a new one:

Oh, and...

NOTE: Thread moved to appropriate forum. Not just anything goes in Anything Goes

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
