Recently I changed the channel on my router in order to decrease interference. However this had no effect on the signal strength so I decided to change it back. I did this but now my mac and my roommates mac will not connect to the network. Even though im connected to the internet currently, in system preferences it says "the status of your wireless connection is unknown". Any suggestions?

Start with deleting the network settings and re-sign on. That should pick up any changes you have made. Do this by clicking your airport icon in the top bar and selecting "open network preferences". Choose "advanced". There you can remove the network and all of its current settings. Then just re-sign on. Let us know.
