I have a new (2 month old) 1TB Time Capsule and have recently added a new n rated Airport Express to extend the coverage of the wireless network to the other side of the house (where i was getting a weak signal).

The issue I have is that I've set the Airport Express up so that it extends my wireless network, but I'm not seeing a noticeable improvement in my wireless connection speeds (as seen when I press the Alt key and click on the airport icon). Not only that, but in the Airport Utility, the Airport Express keeps disappearing, only coming back if I restart it.

Any suggestions on settings or have I got a duff Express ?

Thanks

Richard

I noticed the same thing - so I reverted my airport expresses to the 2.4GHz network. The 5Ghz just never worked very well throughout the house.

One question - are you sure your bssid is that of the airport express? I found at one point that my Mac didn't always switch basestations - which may be causing your issue. Of course it just may be too far for your Airport Express to be connected at 5Ghz. You can see the signal strength in your Airport Utility (when it works) Select your Airport Express - on the summary page click on the words Wireless Client.
