Question Is older Airport base station compatible with Airport Extreme Card?
I heard that you can't use an Airport Extreme base station with an Airport card, but I want to know if I can use an Airport base station with an Airport Extreme card? (I guess I am asking if the Airport Extreme card in my Macbook is backwards compatible with older base stations, like a silver one)

(I searched the forums a few ways before posting, but if there is already a topic posted, forgive me)

    Thanks in advance,

You're listening to the wrong people.

The Airport Extreme card is a "b/g" card...so it will be compatible with an older "b" only base station, or a newer "b/g" Airport Extreme Base Station.

Actually, it's a b/g/n card. And dual band, at least the new ones are.

But yes, it will work backward compatibly.

Well...actually...it depends on what the OP means by an "older" Airport Extreme Base Station.

I was thinking of this one (below) or the even older "b" only Airport Base station when I posted above:

Apple AirPort Extreme base station wireless access point Wireless Access Point reviews - CNET Reviews

...and this Airport Extreme Base Station is definitely just wireless b/g...no "n".

And if this is the Airport Extreme card the OP is using:

    ...it's also only b/g...no "n".

You said the card was a b/g card. The cards now are b/g/n. The Airport Base Station may only be a b/g, but the card is n capable if it's new.

    How ya been?

Yes...the Airport Extreme card (photo) in my earlier post is a b/g card...no "n".

But I guess the OP said that they have a MacBook...which would not use the Airport Card pictured above...so the OP definitely has a b/g/n wireless card in their MacBook.
