I woke up this morning and wanted to check my email. I tried in 3 different places, but my MacBook just won't do anything on my Wi-Fi. It looks like it's connected, but it just sits there and doesn't do anything.

It's in his profile.

If you're running DHCP on your router, make sure your IP address is not 169.254.x.x, but something like 192.168.x.x

if you're getting a valid IP, then try releasing and renewing it. Else power cycle all your devices...

Releasing and Renewing? Can you help with that? Not sure what you mean.

Hmm that's very strange in fact, I'm familier with Snow Leopard having lot of airport troubles.. but there aren't many problems known to me for Leopard...

Have you tried reinstalling airport?
sometimes a simple reboot will work, but is suppose you already did that...
when did it go wrong? do you have any more clues?

Simple reboot is the second thing I tried (next to turning airport off and on again). It started going wrong around 7:00 or 8:00 this morning (5-6 hrs ago).

How do you "reinstall" airport?

reinstalling is more a tricky thing,
better idea, can you take some screen shots of your network preference panel?
if its easier you can mail them to me as well, I'll send you a private message containing my e-mail (to prevent any spam)

I don't want to take the risk of screwing things up.

How?

Simply unplug and plug back in. Ask your parents to help you.

In the network preferences panel, Click Airport in the left colum,
click the button Advanced,
A new screen should pop-up
click on TCP/IP.
A button should be there containing something like "reset DHCP lease"
click it.
and this should work.

hmm most of the time this would work.. in that case..
Indeed unplug your airport and plug it back in, (just the power supply)
or send me pictures of all the "advanced screen" windows. I'll be able to establish a better idea of what's going wrong
