Using airport extreme base station in student accomidation

I have just moved into student accomidation and the Internet is only accesible by pluging my mac into a LAN socket and to establish the internet connection you must then log into your student account, I was wondering if I pluged a base station into the LAN and used it as a router would I have any bother connecting?
