Ok, over the last 2 months I have been having network problems. I pay for 8 mbps down and 1 mbps up. I conformed that this is true, by wire directly to modem. What my problem is through wireless i lose like all of my speed. My speeds are very inconsistent. The first time I do a speed test I will get my full speed. If I restart my speed test, speeds will go to .9 mbps down, and sometimes .2 up. I bought a new linksys router today, and I still get the same result. I even tried moving the router and modem apart. So is there anything that wold cause this? Is it time for me to go for the AirPort extreme?

The walls in your house may be mesh which will affect the wireless, also try a consistency test by plugging it in and doing a speed test online, then do it via wireless with the laptop 3 meters away from router and then try 10 meters away (if you can in same room not behind a wall)

Ok, now its faster, but it's working now because I posted edit: going to keep testing and see if it drops with the new router
Maybe it was slow in the beginning with the new router because it wasn't fully configured or somthing? Its weird because I am getting full speed with the new router Last edited by Mac Masta; 09-01-2009 at 12:09 PM. |
