hi. im thinking about buying the airport express to use with my new ibook. i have a couple questions though.

1. i hear that it can only functionas a LAN port or a WAN port. what is the difference? should i care?.

2.along the lines of security, what is the difference between WPA and 128-bit WEP.

3. how easy really is the setup. everything these days says easy, but we all know thats not true.

thanks a bunch.

1. Both mean eithernet so, as long as you have an internet connectoin that uses an ethernet cable, you don't really need to care.

2. WPA is more secure but not as freely accessable as WEP. WEP allows you to allow random connection to your wireless network to be set up more simply. (I think, corrections if I'm wrong.)

3. In my opinion, easy peasy! Install the software, change a few settings then it really is a matter of plugging it in and it works. That's how it was for me anyway. Once you're connected you can use the Airport Setup Utility to fiddle with the security settings.

Just make sure you read the instructions and follow them without rushing an the set up done in about 15-30 minutes.

I say, "Unless it causes death, it's not a problem!".
