I was looking into why my Airport Extreme cards were only connecting to a N only 40Mhz band wireless network at 130Mbps and got this for an answer.

Apple has disabled 40 MHz channel width in the 2.4GHz band to prevent interference with legacy 11b/g WLANs.

Is anyone aware of a way to get the 40Mhz band enabled?
