I just received a 2002 ibook G3 with 700 MHz and 256 MB SDRAM and am trying to get it set up properly. Compared to the other pc in the house it is very slow on the internet using the same type of connection.
Would adding additional memory speed things up or am I just limited by processor and age of the ibook? Its only being used by the kids for the internet (ie webkinz, etc).

I'm open to suggestions as the ibook is like new and not loaded with unwanted software.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

more ram will help, and should be fairly cheap

A G3 is never going to be a speed demon. especially on flash intensive sites and sites like uTube

What is the best way to increase the speed of an ibook G3 that is being used primarily for the internet? Would upgrading the memory from 256 to 512 impact this performance?

The machine has been updated and does not have any programs on it that did not come from the factory. The high speed connection is plugged directly into the unit and the pc I have on the same line is working fine.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

More memory is a good start. As for increasing access speed and or download speed from the internet, a faster connection always helps.

Regards.
