I have a feling that this might be a fairly common problem; but new to me. I have a shared Epson Color Stylus R300 printer on a a wireless network. It is accessed by a MacbookPro (10.5.5) & iMac (10.4.11). Wireless printing works perfectly. from both Macs.

The problem is that I cannot access the printer utility in order to view ink cartridge levels & perform printer maintenance. When I open the printer utility, there is no printer listed. According to Epson support, this problem occurs since I am contacted to the printer wirelessly. If indeed true, is there a workaround to access the printer utility.

Thank you.

It's not just a problem with the Epson brand. I have the same problem with my Canon printer that I purchased from the apple web site along with my MB.

I've had the same condition with two other Epson printers when accessed wirelessly thru my MacBook Pro w/ OS 10.5.5. The only way I could launch the printers utility was to hook up directly with a USB cable.
However, this past week I installed a new Epson WorkForce 600 wireless printer and utility is easily accessed while printing wireless thru AipPort. In fact, every time a print is launched, the ink levels are automatically displayed.

Had the same problem with a 580 and called support and they said that the
utility was not supported wirelessly and their newest models were so I solved
my whole dilemma by getting a networked HP 6380 its all supported including
scanning.
