quick question, maybe someone can help:

I frequently connect to my University's wireless network while on campus, and when I do so other Macs can see "[my name]'s Computer" under the "Network" tab in the finder sidebar (as I can see theirs). I was wondering if there's a way to prevent this from happening? I'd rather not advertise the fact that i'm on at all times.

QUOTE Thanks

I've never tried this, but I always assumed this is what stealth mode is for.

System Preferences > Security > Firewall > Advanced > Enable Stealth Mode

Let us know if it works...
