I'm studying abroad, so my email is very important to me. Apple mail doesn't seem to work here, so I just used to go directly through google.com for my gmail. However for some reason last week I noticed a steep slowdown in my internet speed, and whenever I try to go to gmail.com it times out (this doesn't happen with any other website)

I have a feeling its something to do with my computer, because my suitemate has no issues, nor do any other people living in the same dorm. I am plugging an Ethernet cord directly from my MBP to the wall.

If you have any advice please lmk!

If someone else plugs their computer into the same cord you are using do they have the same problem?

i'm not sure about that, but I tried plugging my computer into someone else's internet connection and I still couldn't load the websites...do I have some sort of virus?

i've been using a lot of those "free online shows/movies" websites since I don't have TV here, and I need to connect to the internet through a proxy if that matters

HELP!
