    Can this be done?
I want to get an iPhone, and don't have wifi at home.

I have a iMac, and am wondering if I can transmit the internet through my iMac to the iPhone through Airport? or something else.

I believe you can do it with other computers... not sure about the iPhone though.

With the data plan, you would have the Internet on the iPhone. (Edge network)
Not the fastest, but it works. Also, the new iPhones plan to use 3G, which would be even faster.
When all else fails, try everything!
    The Rep System and you.

I was talking about sharing internet like wifi from my computer. I was just asking if this is doable, I know that there are plans, but I live in a rural area, and service isn't exactly 100%.

As far as I know you can't share the internet from the phone with the computer.

He wants to share his internet from his computer TO his phone, wirelessly.

Yes, I think it will work as long as your computer has an Airport card installed.

Yeah, it will work no problem. You can setup your imac to broadcast the wireless signal your iPhone can pickup.

Yes, you can. Go to "System Preferences / Sharing" and select the "Internet Sharing" check box.
