Hey guys!

I'm new to Macs...my brand new iMac is going to get here Monday.

I've been using Paint Shop Pro for the past few years on my PC...PSPXI specifically right now.

So I was wondering...what's the best photo editing software for Mac that is similar to PSPXI in functionality and price? I do a lot of photo editing, so I really need a program that's at least as good (or better).

I think that covers it. I use imagewell which is really nice. Gimp has a lot of functions but is a real pain to use if you've been using photoshop for a long time.

Here is one more Acorn. I've downloaded it but haven't used it much.

Thanks for the adds of Pixelmator and Acorn. I have added them to the list. This question (what are the good image editing programs for Macs) comes up so often that I assembled a list and keep it at hand, posting it in response whenever I see the question again. Thanks again.

There is another app but it's in beta stage for now: Pixel Image Editor. The dev has been on and off the development on this one, seems to have picked it up lately. The app looks very promising.

Edited to add:

All these apps seem wonderful, but it seems that they do not support a higher pixel rez than that for web or multimedia use (72ppi). If anyone wants to work on an image to make it suitable for print, there might be a problem and Elements and Photoshop might be the only choices people have.
