Looking for simple photo editing program

I have recently come over to a G5 IMac and just love it. I do however miss my photo editing program "Live Pix" from my PC days. It especailly allowed me to create photo collages where the images faded into each other. Is there any app that I can use on my Mac that would allow me to do similar type stuff?

I like ImageWell for quick edits. ArtRage is a nice, natural painting program, although I wish there was something like Deluxe Paint for the Mac. One of these days I'm going to spend some time and learn Photoshop and Photoshop-like programs like the Gimp.

One that is free and no one has mentioned as yet is

It has many photoshop like features and is worth a try. Don't be put off by the name
