Drawing lines on a map

I want to draw some lines on a map (gif or jpg file) to show a route. Is there an application that came with my MacBook to do that? Or is there a freeware program I can download that can draw on jpg or gifs like Paint for Windows? This is a one time need. Thanks

Art Rage is nice, Imagewell or SeaShore can also get the job done.

All are free or have free versions...
