Ive been redesigning my website and experimenting with Full Browser Flash, my site isnt done, i still need to take photos of all my print work. Ive got a few logos and a couple of flash movies on there.
I just finished for now an Illustrator project for school. It's a poster (finished size is 10"X17").
The poster is to announce a garden festival at Jardins de Métis.
The assignment consisted of redrawing the low rez logo, making a pie chart graphic, taking a photo and reworking it in Photoshop, making it a trichrome (right word?) and using the same swatch in Illustrator. We also had to make our own pattern (the left hand sidebar), chose the typeface(s) and layout and input the text.
One thing I will need to add is that we were supposed to put a small map to show how to get there to potential visitors. Somehow I didn't get the stuff from the teacher for the map thingy.
The screengrab weighed a lot so had to save it at a very low quality and had to size it down a little but I think you'll get the idea.
This is the final version that I gave to the teacher...

I like your background. WOOD grain... love it. I like how your resume and contact information are executed.
As far as how your work is displayed, needs more finesse. Boxing in the logos really take away from the actual pieces. It just doesn't present well and look like cheap stickers or something just thrown on there. They look like they don't belong.
The other thing I see is the menu under your name. I think it needs to be a heavier typeface to uphold itself underneath the weight of your name.
With all that said... Here's my site which is done in a very simplistic way cause I don't know that much about developing/programming. When you don't use it, you lose it.

Thanks for looking at my site and im definitely going to try and incorporate some of the things you suggested. After looking at it again, you're right about the typeface under my name, I didnt want that to stand out too much, but right now it doesnt really stand out at all so ill fix that.
I always thought about taking out the white background from the logos but I just didnt know how it would look being transparent and black since my name is black, but I dont think that will really be a problem since ill have that one line of type between them. I never really like the white box it just made it seem foreign to me, but after thinking about it and having you tell me, it just makes sense to not have the white and let the logos be themselves on top of that wood grain.
thanks again for the suggestions, ill definitely take all the ones i can get.

Well... I'm not quite sure that just placing the logos on the wood grain will be such a good idea. That might not present well either. The reason being is that there might not be enough contrast between your work and the wood grain. Also, that wood grain will interact with your colors in which ever piece you're presenting.
Perhaps create a transparent background, like what comes down with your resume, of white or the black that is above. Then, you could have some kind of neutral background for your work.
Here's an example_
This isn't a finished piece and I wouldn't publish this, but it gets my point across. (I just woke up and haven't had any breakfast yet... I'm a slow at waking up.)
I also like how the contact and resume drop down. Very nice, I really like the website so far!
Thanks ^ this is my second big design of my website and im glad people are liking it.

Thanks for the suggestions and having the mock up to look at is nice.
I understand what you are saying, in my mind the total transparency works, but now that you say something about the colors it makes me think. I really like what you did and im going to try that as well, the only problem i see with it is running out of room with that drop down when you look at print and interactive stuff. I can also just move that line under my first name and that would fix it. Thanks for the suggestions though, im open to anything.

Well, you'd want to make that drop down grow and fit when necessary. That was my intention/thought.
Well this is a render that I made using Blender 2.44 and AutoCad 2007. It's pretty simple scene. oh by the way it's a Zagi a type of RC airplane (Hobby Level) NOT a TOY. I included a link to anybody interested to my album in photobucket.
