I made an error and deleted all my pictures from the last year on my Imac, I cannot locate them on my backup drive.
1. Is there an app. to recover pictures.

2. I my iphoto app. all my albums are listed and there are icons of the pictures that I lost but when I click on the icon it opens up just with a blank black page.

All help or sugestons would be appreciated

First, do not use your hard drive - in other words, don't write to it or move things around for fear of overwriting the photos you lost.

Next: Download Data Rescue 3 from the Prosoft web site. It's expensive software ($119) but you can download their trial version first to see if you can recover the photos. Note that you will have to run the software from an external bootable flash drive or disk.
