making animated gifs

i'm having trouble saving image sequences to make animated gifs..in windows there was a program for it..while i can do it using quicktime pro..i find it very inconvenient..anyone has another alternative for saving image sequences to be transported to imageready?

the problem isn't the software, but the method in which i want to catch the image sequence.. an alternative to saving as image sequence in quicktime if i may say.. anyone has that?
or a script that might work?

The GIF Animation format will result in a semi-movie type file that is extremely universal. I use Flash 8 Pro to do this.
